FAQs
What is Sports Therapy?
Sports Therapy focuses on assessing, treating, rehabilitating, and helping prevent musculoskeletal pain and injuries. Despite the name, you do not need to be an athlete to benefit. We treat active individuals as well as anyone experiencing pain, stiffness, or movement limitations.
---
Do I need to be injured to book?
Not at all. Many clients visit for injury prevention, mobility improvement, recovery from training, posture-related discomfort, or ongoing muscular tension.
---
What conditions do you treat?
We commonly help with:
- Sports injuries
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Shoulder pain
- Knee pain
- Hip pain
- Sciatica
- Tendon injuries
- Muscle strains
- Joint stiffness
- Overuse injuries
- Postural pain
- Mobility restrictions
- Return-to-sport rehabilitation
---
What happens during my first appointment?
Your initial session usually includes:
- A discussion about your symptoms and medical history
- A physical assessment
- Movement testing
- Hands-on treatment
- Personalised rehabilitation advice and exercises
---
How long are appointments?
Appointment lengths vary depending on the service booked. Current treatment durations are listed on our booking page.
---
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the nature of your condition, how long you've had it, your goals, and how well your body responds to treatment. Some people improve after one session, while others benefit from a structured rehabilitation programme.
---
Will treatment hurt?
Some techniques, such as deep tissue therapy or trigger point work, may cause temporary discomfort. Treatment should always remain within a tolerable level, and techniques can be adjusted to suit your comfort.
---
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being assessed or treated. Shorts are useful for lower-body injuries, while a vest or loose-fitting top is recommended for shoulder or upper-body assessments.
---
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. You can book directly without a referral.
However, if we believe another healthcare professional is better suited to your condition, we may recommend that you see your GP or another specialist.
---
Do you provide rehabilitation exercises?
Yes. Where appropriate, you will receive personalised exercises and advice to support your recovery and reduce the risk of the problem returning.
---
Do you treat non-athletes?
Absolutely. Most of our clients are simply looking to move more comfortably, reduce pain, improve function, or return to everyday activities.
---
What payment methods do you accept?
Accepted payment methods are displayed during booking or at your appointment.
---
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide the required notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee. Full details are available in our Cancellation Policy.
---
Is my personal information kept confidential?
Yes. Your personal and medical information is handled confidentially and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection laws.
---
Can I exercise after treatment?
This depends on your condition and the treatment provided. You will receive individual advice on whether to rest, continue training, or modify your activity.
---
